NY Asia Society honors one of Asia’s greatest living artists, sitar master Ravi Shankar, with a Legacy Award. Join us for this celebration and a special screening of the re-release and DVD premiere of the 1971 film Raga: A Film Journey into the Soul of India, which documented the life of Ravi Shankar in the late 1960s and 1970 as he revisited his guru Bab Ustad Allauddin Khan and performed across Europe and the United States, initiating Western audiences into the exceptional world of classical Indian music. DVDs of Raga will be on sale at the program. Special guests include the Maestro himself, along with Howard Worth, the director of RAGA, Gary Haber, Original Executive Director of RAGA, and Merle Worth, original Film Editor of RAGA.
